Sgwarnog: In the Field

Carpet

Today’s lunchtime walk took me down to the river and the nature reserve.

Highlights included this Green Carpet moth, well disguised on the trunk of a birch tree, and a Red-headed Cardinal Beetle (extra), somewhat less well disguised. Also a Large Red Damselfly, my first odonata of the year.

I’ve noticed that the normal display of photos here now seems somewhat compressed, with detail lost, but if you click view large you get a bit of the sharpness back, particularly noticeable with the feathery antennae. I don’t know how long this has been the case, but it’s reassuring in some ways as I’d become convinced that my photography was getting worse.
