Sally Mair - Loving life

More purples

There definitely seems to be a bit of a colour theme going on here. I was surprised to see the first of the purple iris out today, the brown ones are not going to be far behind. The others in the collage are the wisteria and the dwarf lilac. The last two are next to each other and the scent in that corner is almost overpowering.
Today Josie accompanied her mum and sister to visit us after her gymnastics class. She's very proud of herself and her toilet training skills and keeps informing us that she's wearing big girl pants now!
This evening we went out to the airport to pick up one of Ali's uni friends who is staying with us for the weekend as Ali doesn't have a spare room. Anne is from the states originally but has lived in Berlin for the last 10 years. Despite the distance they have remained very close friends. Anne and her husband are moving back to the States soon though and so it's not going to be so easy to drop in.
Ali joined us after the girls were in bed and we all spent a very pleasant evening, first of all in the garden enjoying the sunshine and prosecco. As it cooled off, we moved into the house. We had a light supper of savoury biscuits, cheese, cold meats and fruit.
A very relaxed friendly time with lots of chat.
Ali was just about to head off when I texted Katy to wish her a safe drive tomorrow. To my amusement she texted back saying she was just outside our house waiting for a taxi. She came in to say hallo. She and Kate, a former school friend had walked home from town, after having a meal together. They are both in their 40's now, so another long friendship.
They had unintentionally ended up walking home together as they had so much to catch up on and had parted company at Kate's parents house, just around the corner.
It was lovely to have both my girls here and to be able to have them drop so informally. I do appreciate how lucky I am.
