Hill Top Ramblings

Sheepfold

We took Barbara to Tilberthwaite today, for a walk in the Fells. It was a really beautiful day and the temperatures rose to 24C. We walked up past some disused mine workings and climbed up Tilberthwaite Gill, then over onto the fell.
Barbara loved the Herdwicks, especially the lambs! There wasn’t a great deal of wildlife as it looked heavily grazed, though there is some tree planting and signs of reduced grazing. We did see wheatear and tree pipit.
Back down at the parking area we noticed one of the Andy Goldworthy ‘Sheepfolds’ installations, to me it looked like the four phases of the moon!
We came home via Ambleside and the inevitable traffic but not too bad, then a cup of tea in the garden.
