Day 2: Arrived in Somerset - chin chin!

Had a much better journey from Stratford to Somerset and we stopped for a good coffee at Gloucester, one of the nicest service stations there is.

The house is officially ready from 3pm but he always texts if it's done early and at 2pm, as we were within half a mile, Norm's phone beeped to say it was ready. Great timing! There's always wine and milk chilling in the fridge too :-)

Everything was the same, as always, in the house - we love staying here. Unpacked and relaxed for a bit and then headed into the town. It was Somerset Day so there was a band playing at East Quay and a couple singing folky stuff at the Esplanade Club. It all felt very merry and the sun was shining.

Watched Eurovision later but wish I hadn't now. 0 points for Olly in the public vote??! Eurovision always depressingly brings home how much the rest of Europe hates us. Olly's wasn't the best performance and didn't deserve to win it, but nil???! I know a lot of people want to get rid of the judging panel votes, but without those we'd have walked away with nothing at all! Israel - whose inclusion caused so much bad feeling, division and controversy and put a damper on the whole event - did very well :-/ I was chatting to my mate online and said that they should make a rule that countries currently involved in a conflict can't take part, partly because of partiality issues and partly because they're probably not able (like Ukraine) to host the following year. My mate answered that maybe just making it so only countries that are actually in Europe can take part might be a start too. She has a point! Rant over.

I really wanted Ireland to win. Bambie Thug's performance was something else! I even broke with tradition and voted.
