It's not dead

I did worry when they cut it down so drastically and chain sawed the ivy off the trunk, but after watching all winter here it is starting to sprout new leaves.  You can't kill a tree that must be in the 200 years old bracket or more who knows.
When we moved here 53 years ago it was a magnificent sycamore and my husbands mates father in law Bill who was then in his 90's told us he used to sit under it as a lad to watch the cricket (cricket field being where our street is now) and it was a big tree, then.
It will grow again, it did the last time it was pruned heavily.
Today I did a lot of clearing of that awful sticky weed that pops up out of nowhere, My brown bin is overflowing, thank goodness they empty it tomorrow, Monday.

Tired, now, it's been another pleasant day, rain was forecast but never came and it's warm again tonight.
