Now, as I see it......

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for all the stars and hearts and all the lovely comments on my 4,000th blip yesterday.  I'm sorry that I've not had time to be able to reply to everyone individually but I really appreciate them all.

According to our guide book, Locarno is one of the warmest resorts in Switzerland with over 2,500 hours of sunshine every year.  Unfortunately, no-one told the weather today.  It has rained long and it has rained hard.  It lightened up to a drizzle for an hour or so at midday but other than that it has been a constant heavy downpour.  We were determined not to be put off so we borrowed a couple of umbrellas from the hotel and set off to explore.  We had a good look around the town and a walk alongside Lake Maggiore, and then after lunch we aimed for a local castle and art gallery.  The art wasn't to our taste but the castle had a fine display of Roman artefacts that had been found within the local region.

This is a shot of the funicular railway that travels up from the town to the church I blipped yesterday, stopping at the hotel on the way up.  We decided to walk rather than use it when we headed back to the hotel by late afternoon where we are warming up and drying off.  The weather forecast is much the same for Locarno tomorrow but we are moving on to Lucerne where the forecast looks a little better.  Fingers crossed.
