The Italian Job

How can one place be so beautiful?

Every time you turn your head?

Rome was amazing. We started early, up at 3.45am, flying at 7am, and sometime later exploring the bright and shadowy streets of a new exciting city.

Our annual company conference took us to Rome and we had the afternoon to explore.

We found a lovely place to eat where I had a plate of Parma Ham & Parmesan with a smattering of Rocket, some refreshing beer and a fair amount of people watching. Back to the hotel to check in and for a 30 minute snooze....

The plan was to go out and explore the sites for the rest of the afternoon but as we approached the Villa Borghese park we could see people running as if they were being attacked by a dinosaur from Jurassic Park. Then we saw it coming - a wall of water and a thunderous roar!

The rain was torrential, and the remainder of the afternoon was back at the hotel and a short walk around the park when the rain eased off, before we met up for a great meal; about 70 of us from our company.

Sight seeing would have to wait until Sunday, but Saturday had already been great just soaking up the atmosphere of a place that exuded history and architecture and the art of keeping it cool.
