The Cherry Garden, Ham House

A private walled garden at the side of the house. Taken through a square peep hole cut in a very tall hedge. Beautiful display of lavender, with a statue of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine.

This was Elizabeth Murray's private garden, only her family and close friends had the privilege of enjoying this space. There were once over 80 cherry trees here, hence the name.

Another scorching day, with temperatures over 30C. We walked here along the Thames and enjoyed watching a boat going through the Lock at Teddington on the way back. Our second visit, more information about the house here.
