Summer exuberance

The Lavatera species are known as tree mallows and they certainly grow to a good height. Its flowers are a joyous proliferation of pink in this specimen, with five petals produced in terminal clusters. I have grown it in a very large pot and I hope it will bloom next year too. I haven't tried a pot before but this is good. We have a terraced garden and the blue monkshood in the background are in the top plot and a potted hydrangea sits below. One of the Siamese garden cats, featured among the daffodils in the spring, looks very regal in its lofty position on the wall.

I've added a light paint daubs filter and spherisized the image slightly to improve composition.
