Scutellaria sevanensis

In the gathering gloom, the flowers of this little alpine from the Caucasus provided a bright spot amongst all the green. Only one flower is fully open but the furry buds are attractive too.

Lots of alpine seedlings growing on in the greenhouse, not many will flower in their first season so this is a welcome sight. I have planted a couple of it's siblings in the garden where I hope they will make a tight mat at the front of a border, hopefully a mat of flowers next summer.
