Rivets and Rust

On the way home this evening I decided to take a detour to Bowling Basin.

I love how the evening light has highlighted the rivets and rust of this old railway bridge.

In 1896 the opening of the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway necessitated extensive accommodation works to the Forth and Clyde Canal at the Bowling Basin. A massive railway swing bridge was built over the original lock and a completely new lock and inner basin were provided.
