A Woman's Place

Met Wendles56 at Salts Mill for a drink then a meander around a new exhibition

Right on the top floor in the roof of a mill is what looks like a disused space where the walls and floors are untouched from when it was a working mill. The exhibition celebrated all that the mill was originally about : textiles . A lot of exhibits were all about symbolism ( me and Wendy kept looking at each other with a " WTF" glance when we read some of the explanations out )
Bizarre explanations or not the works were all eye catching

This last one made you stop and think and was a celebration of women in a way but was a harsh reminder of what life was about for women in the late 19th century. This apron was along side some spools that held the names of and ages of many of the women that worked in the mill with their address, job and marital status ( data protection doesn't apply for the late 1800s apparently ) . Long hard days taht started as young as thirteen .

I don't think I would have lasted two minutes ...
