Heart of the Matter

A wander down the Royal Mile this evening on the way to dinner at friends.

This is the Heart of Midlothian - it marks the site of the 15th century prison on the Royal Mile (the old High Street in Edinburgh).

Its tradition to spit on it as you pass. Most people don't do that but there is always a little phlegm for you to dodge as you walk over it.

I really wanted some feet in the shot - you can't imagine how many polite people stopped and waited for me to stop. Maybe they were international shoe/boot/foot models and didn't want me to take shots of their feet without permission. After all, it is the Festival/Fringe. Anything's possible.

Some other shots from my wander that didn't quite make it tonight:

Reject 1: Wide Heart

Reject 2: Cello

Reject 3: Keep Edinburgh Tidy

Reject 4: Crowd

Reject 5: Bid for Freedom

This shot is Mrs42's favourite ... do you agree?

LOTD: James Fryer's 'I Lost' blip - so cute and a great composition/processing too.
