Wind power

This evening, community members debated a proposal to erect a single 33m high wind turbine at Collenan Farm, about half a mile from the village. The Community Council called this consultation meeting at short notice as a decision on the planning application is imminent. Although the turbine would be unseen from the village itself, several of those attending live within sight of it. The discussion was wide ranging, from local concerns about siting and visibility to wider issues such as the efficiency of wind power and the financial implications. Some were concerned that if one were allowed now, others might follow in future. When finally put to the vote, 19 of the 25 attending agreed to support a Community Council objection to the proposal. We await the planning decision with interest.
