The church of Saints Peter and Paul, Puhoi

We've had a good day. And a good day does entail pain and medications. Those are a given.

But Mum still managed to get her hair done while I sorted some things at the chemist and fitted in a batch of date scones at their place. With things more settled by lunch time we headed to Puhoi with my brother Stephen and sister-in-law Judith.

I'd never been way up to onto the ridge at the head of the Puhoi Valley. Stephen has been working on a land development there. With covenanted native bush (regenerated since originally cleared for farming) and a degree of back of beyond, it will will retain its natural beauty and seclusion. The views across to the Kaipara Harbour to the west and outer Hauraki Gulf, Coromandel and Great Barrier it is spectacular.

We lunched at the Puhoi Cheese Factory and stopped briefly for me to blip around and inside the land mark church of Saints Peter and Paul church in Puhoi. I liked the way the light fell on the chair and statue, with the colours of the stained glass on the carpet.

Lovely large

Wild pork with broccoli, corn and kumara for dinner. Just as well I had a big run in the morning ;-)

Some special and unexpected things to enjoy today.
