Hardy Monument

An absolute scorcher today and what do the Wild's do - set off for walk along the Dorset ridgeway - mad dogs an Englishman. Great views of Chesil beach and the Fleet though. This monument should not to be mistaken for one to writer Thomas Hardy but to the captain of HMS Victory T Hardy of Nelson's 'Kiss me Hardy ' last words fame. Hardy was born hereabouts. A lot of people think Nelson was in charge of HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar well he wasn't, he was only directing operations while Hardy was in charge of commanding the ship. Afternoon spent in the sea and catching Mackerel for tea.
