Muthill Mannikin

Back to quirky for tonight's blip.

Today was a day of surgeries all over the constituency - started off in Perth, then Kinross, Auchterarder and Crieff. The time pressure involved meant it wasn't until the afternoon and the road back to Crieff that I really had time to think about what to blip today. From Auchterarder that road takes you through Muthill.

Now, anyone who is at all familiar with Muthill will be aware of the curious phenomenon of the mannikins. They appear at intermittent times throughout the year - the Muthill Fortnight, Christmas etc. A great deal of work and inventiveness goes into the making of these objects. For example I've not seen this Native American chief before. A very individual local tradition!

Not sure why the current outbreak - but they are great fun and I always look out for them. You never know what you're going to see!!
