Our Anniversary today.

1995 was a lovely warm sunny year. We spent our second night in a B&B in Portpatrick. We were in a room up under the roof and every time someone flushed the toilet the room echoed to water noises !

The first week of our honeymoon was then spent at home - visiting events at the Edinburgh Festival (it was later in those days). The second week we stayed in a cottage in Poolewe (Wester Ross), with the best man, his girlfriend and their dog ! It only had single beds!

The 7/84 theatre group played a show in the local village hall and after we ended up drinking Drambuie in the Poolewe Hotel with the Minister from 'Take the High Road' and the owner's wife. The hotel owner was an Icelandic ex-Celtic player.

Our car's clutch was broken, and we had to abandon it in Inverness and catch a bus home. A week later we went back to collect it.

Every year we would return to Wester Ross in September...(until the kids started school). The beaches were breathtaking - and when the sun shone (and it did that a lot!) it was the most beautiful place on earth.

We haven't been back for about 12 years. Maybe next year!
