Grand Canyon - South Rim

This shot works much better large!

After seeing the North Rim yesterday, we had a long drive down to get to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Very different in feel - where the North was remote and unpopulated, the South feels more like a theme park. Have to say I preferred the North!

On the way down we stopped off at Lees Ferry. It's the only place for several hundred miles where the Colorado River is accessible. We took the opportunity to go for a quick paddles (cold!) while watching people prepare rafts to go floating down. Looked good fun...

This shot was taken from the middle of crowds of people as the sun was setting. While the view was magnificent, the scale of the place was such that it was really difficult to capture the scale in a single image. This is my attempt at doing so though.
