Hasty Repairs

Garden orbweb spiders don't normally build their webs in the daytime, so when I saw this little female working away on her small web I stopped to watch. She was moving very fast, attaching a line of silk to an upper radial, then dropping down to attach it to a lower one before quickly shinnying up to the top again. The small web was in an Australian waxflower bush, which has masses of flowers. Many honeybees buzzed about collecting nectar. Now and then one flew with impunity right through the delicate little web, which caused the spider to redouble her efforts.

Today should have been the best morning this month for a moonset-sunrise shot, but as far as I could see there was no moon to set, and no sun to rise.
