THE MATURE SEEDCONES

of the taxus baccata are called aril. The red parts are not poisonous but the seeds inside are. The whole tree is poisonous too as so many flowers and leaves in our garden are.
I persisted in taking pictures of a wasp on the laurel berries, almost good enough. The berries are rather black and that poses probably the problem.
From early on the clouds in the sky were not thick but rather persistent in covering the heaven above us. Dull weather!
But nice weather for a walk in the forest this afternoon. We love the quietness, hearing only bird sounds. On our way back we saw two deer, not very far away, they quickly disappeared in the bushes.

My haiku:

Smoke from the chimney
Escapes into the cold air
Flavour of autumn

And the proverb:

Drie dingen zijn niet te vertrouwen: een vette heremiet, een ziekelijk dokter en een arme alchemist.

Translation: Three things are not to be trusted: a fat hermit, a sickly physician and a poor alchemist.
