Armed and Dangerous

Yesterday one of the little disposable cameras arrived from Ceridwen , part of the When You're a Stranger project. The brief is to photograph one stranger in a single shot then pass the camera on to the next blipper. Armed and dangerous I headed into Bantry to find a stranger. It was market day and I found her almost instantly. Erica was sitting on the steps in the Square selling puppies. She had been very successful and only one pup, Missy, was still to find a new family. Erica had Missy in her arms as I approached, a calm bundle of black and white, and she was delighted to have her photo taken. Erica looked incredibly young but was mum to three and a half children - one was due in April; and she was a part-time waitress in Dunmanway.
Using the camera was quite nerve-wracking for it felt so flimsy, and it seemed strange to use a teeny view finder. Most disconcerting of all - you had no idea what you had blipped. A tinny click, a quick flash a it was done. Camera15 now heads off across the sea toArachne .

In the instructions it's not clear if you're meant to take a blip of your victim but in all the excitement I forgot, but then I came across this!!! Resplendent in orange, complete with an accompaniment of soothing Indian music, this gentlemen was hovering on a small traffic island in the middle of Bantry! There was much discussion going on as to how he was doing this. I later met Annabel in a coffee shop and someone had tried to explain it to her- it seemed to involve sticks and seats and flowing robes. He came from South Africa! Have a good weekend everyone.
