St George's Basin

Here we sit at the most southern part of the Shoalhaven district. This idyllic waterway is a tidal saltwater lake fed from the sea via a narrow inlet. It is called St George's Basin and is one of the places where my family used to take vacations when I was a child. No longer a sleepy little place, the village of my youth has grown to be an indecently large town with far too much noise and traffic for my liking. Still, the waterway itself with its wonderful nature reserves, is pretty much as I remember it ... thank heaven. We sat and had our lunch on a public bench by the shore. I'd be there still ... if I wasn't so stupid.
