A cracking time

I was making a batch of granola today, following the method my son taught me recently. A friend had given me a big bag of hazelnuts, so it was time to get the special cracking tool out. I owe this handy utensil to my mother-in-law. One day when she arrived at our house she asked me to have a look at the engine of her car, because she'd heard a funny knocking noise. When I opened the bonnet, there lay this hammer, left there by the garage after a recent service. It's also quite good for banging in nails.
A morning spent cooking in anticipation of my daughter's arrival this afternoon. A good way to spend what would have been our thirty-seventh wedding anniversary.
