Bow Wow the Vagabond Hound and Bad Weather

It hasn't half tipped it! Call them showers if you like but I thought more of storms in a teacup. From sunshine and fluffy clouds came high winds, thunder, lightning and water streaming in rivers down the window panes. Whilst Maera and Cocoa peered through the glass in hope that the thunder might be a gun and a pheasant should require retrieving, Bow Wow trembled beside them on the sofa.

Bow Wow is my niece's dog. His adventures, as he and his owners travelled throughout Africa, are well documented but now he has exchanged his vagabond life for a more sedate future with my sister in Dundee. My sister is away so Lucie thought she'd like her dog back until she returns. Unfortunately, Bow Wow is large, energetic and strong willed. Lucie and Lachlan's new cottage is very compact, Lucie is very large and risks giving birth in a field whilst walking the dog. With a baby due in the next fortnight, and an inkling that it may arrive a sooner, my offer to relieve the couple of Bow Wow was, unsurprisingly, accepted.

Who would think that a dog that has stood amongst lions would be petrified at a clap of thunder!
