Quod oculus meus videt

Last Rose of Summer

Just before dusk I noticed this rose in the garden. It will undoubtedly be the last rose of summer and has only flowered because of the mild conditions we have experienced this autumn. It is now sitting in a small vase in the study having been used as a still life object for further lgihting experimentation.

The bright leaves are a result of lighting the flower from beneath with a half power flash. The main light was above and to the right.
