Freak Show

This was as close as I could get to the brothers Bogdanov. Igor and Grishka were at the stand right opposite me at the Brive book fair in France. They only put in two brief appearances over the weekend, and each time they did they caused a sensation. Huge crowds mobbed them, eager to get signatures on books and take photographs. I had to stand on a chair to shoot this over the heads of the crowd.

Why are they so popular? Well, actually, they are a kind of freak show. Twins who were French TV heart-throbs in the 80s when they had their own sci-fi show, they became so obsessed with cosmetic surgery that they turned themselves into something not dissimilar to the aliens that they used to report on.

I couldn't get close enough to capture them in all their glory, but this article carries a good pic that gives a better idea of what they truly look like.
