The Old Calton Cemetery

I am being forced to speed up my Christmas gift buying to comply with the pre Christmas travel arrangements of a family member willing to transport presents abroad in their luggage.

The purchase of foreign currency drove me into town this morning with a deviation via the Old Calton Cemetery off Waterloo Place. It was a bit spooky with many old burial chambers of the great and good citizens of Edinburgh, dating back to the early eighteenth century, so I didn't linger longer than it took to blip Calton Hill with the Playfair Monument and The Nelson Column prominent. The observatory is just visible if you know where to look for it.

I was surprised to be able to procure the money immediately at M&S rather than having to order it.
The 33,000 Hungarian Forints to the £, outshone the 0.574 Omani Rials to the £ spectacularly, making the gifts to the two exiled offspring seem less than equal with the differing wads of notes involved.

So with the wrapping up done, I can breathe a sigh of relief for a week or two........ except the Elgin family are coming this weekend, and it might save some postage to give them their Christmas presents away with them too...........
