Autumn fruits

This fruit is at present prolific on a stand of trees alongside the old Nottingham Canal near Giltbrook.
I think I have identified the tree correctly as a Red Maple (Acer rubra) - a species introduced from North America to parks and gardens in the U.K., and occuring naturally in a zone extending from Newfoundland to Texas.
If I have got that wrong then perhaps a more knowledgeable botanist or tree expert will put me straight, please.
Anyway the trees are very colourful with their red and yellow autumn colours with bunches of berries, and this large fly certainly seems to approve!
