The Golden Girls

Mum (on the left) and May have been friends for over 60 years! Here they are celebrating that fact at lunch in a hotel dining room in Ayr which my late father loved to take us to. The 'Golden Girls' met with their respective husbands-to-be youth hosteling on Arran, just across the water and went on to be very close. It was always 'Aunt May' and 'Uncle David', and their only son Alan, who I held when he was only a few days old, has always been our 'cousin', and came along to my 50th birthday party three years ago. It was a great day out including a walk on the beach watching the sun set over the Heads of Ayr at 3.50pm!

Here's a lovely portrait of May by Dd, also taken today.
