Fitzrovia mural

K is in London for business meetings for a few days, so I am tagging along. Lucky me! I spent the day in the neighbourhood of the hotel, first in Regent Park, then in the British Museum. In the evening, we went to see Jersey Boys, a musical in the west end theatre district. It was an interesting story and it was fun to be reminded of so many fabulous Four Seasons songs.

This photo is of a part of a 60 foot high wall mural that is painted on the side of a house next to Whitfield Gardens. It was painted in 1980 by two artists, Mick Jones and Simon Barber and depicts life in the community at the time. In portraying the activities, industry and character of the area, many local people were featured. The mural still resonates today. I am struck by how busy London is, even on a Tuesday afternoon in December.
