Plastic

The receptacle for these apples is made of metal. It’s a copy of a bowl designed at the turn of the century by Josef Hoffman, an architect who also designed furniture and objects like this. Igor bought it in Habitat in the 1980’s.

It would not have been uncommon, in the early 1900’s, to see replica fruit but in those days it would probably have been made of wax. These apples are made of plastic. They are probably the most realistic plastic fruit I’ve ever seen. In a world full of plastic it was hard to choose something to use for my blip today. I eventually decided on some turn of the century sophisticated elegance.
