Life in Sunny Dubai

By GadgetKid

Better than expected day!

I am really tired as I write this so sorry if it is disjointed! First of all, thank you very much for comments on yesterday’s blip. Some of you asked about the padlocks. They are put there by couples who engrave/write their names on them and then attach them to the wires on the bridge. From time to time, they are cleared away. The ones I blipped were just a tiny selection of locks (there was a red one). I noticed some on Tower Bridge as well.

The alarm was set for 5:40 this morning and I am pleased to say we were on our way by 7:10. It only took 2 hours to turn off the M4 which was great! It was bright and clear right up to the time we got into Trowbridge! I LOVED the light created by rain/clouds etc and tried taking pictures from the car but most were blurred. G deposited me in the Library which is housed in an extremely impressive building! Really surprised. The rain beating on the roof of the atrium was something to be heard though! Can’t believe how intense it was at times.

Started to head back to the Lodge around 12:30, this time driving over Salisbury Plain (G doesn’t like to take the same way home). Called up our friends John & Marilyn to see if they were free for a visit as we suddenly found ourselves with a bit of time (and it had stopped raining) and fantastically, they were – so we popped in for a cup of tea – except we ended up staying to dinner (in a nearby newly refurbished pub). We had a brilliant time catching up. J&M were of course out in Dubai in October and I blipped them with something pink.

Got back much later than expected with much to do tomorrow before we leave; so I’m going to stop now and head straight to bed and will tackle it with more energy! Good night!

PS. As we had made such good time, we drove through Lacock (Home of Photography) on our way to Trowbridge. Such a cool place! :)
