SO CROWDED THE BEACH

had been yesterday, so deserted it was today.
We had waited for the afternoon to take our walk, because the weather did not look nice in the morning. We can wait we said. I am reading the autobiography of Nelson Mandela, burrowed from Mischa and now I am near the end I am so exited to see him free after those terrible years in prison(s).
When we had put our bikes away and descended from the dunes, there were not only no persons, or hardly, but also no birds to be seen as well.
We walked southwards and as we started with that blue sky again, some dark clouds lingered already above the Maasvlakte.
It had been high tide and the birds only stir when they have a chance to get a shell or whatever they eat.
It was cold, but it felt so healthy to walk and look in the distance where cormorants in flocks flew above the water. Gulls standing tight together on the sand of the Zandmotor. Now and then they flew in an amazing formation.
When it happens one can only say oh and ah and look, and shoot.
My choice for today is the sight we had towards the west.

My haiku:

If I stare at you
Trying to discern what still
Can not be known now

And the proverb:

Men moet zoeken waar men het verloren heeft.

Translation: On must search where on has lost it.
