Playfair Steps Lions

Another in the 'Steps' series:

The famous architect William Playfair designed the National Gallery at the foot of these steps and since 1978 they have been named after him although the steps were built in 1828. The railings on the steps here have a lion’s head on each post with some of them sticking their tongues out while others appear to be swallowing the rail.
