Three years on

It's exactly three years since we moved to this house from the smaller one we had as a holiday home. We still feel very new in a way, though. The date 1807 has been carved into one of the beams in the roof and this is probably when the top floor was added. Parts of the ground floor and first floor are much older and the outside walls show the closed-in windows and doorways of earlier inhabitants - it's a sort of mosaic of the centuries.

Even after three years I'm reminded every morning of how much I love this view, over the roofs to the pine trees on the hill, from our bedroom window on the top floor, in the 'new' part. Since the clocks went back it is now light when I get up at 7.30, when this photo was taken and the sun was just touching the trees.

Because the trees are evergreen the view doesn't change much during the year - there's just a bit of condensation on the roof opposite now that the nights are colder.

A busy day today, working this morning and friends arriving this afternoon to spend the weekend with us, so an early morning blip today.
