OLD DISH

Weather has been better today. We actually had sunshine. It was still cold though.

Just spent the day pottering at home - doing a bit of paperwork and other boring stuff.

Forum Challenge letter today is O. Decided to blip this old dish. I have had it for many years - bought it at a car boot fair. Its made by Shelley and illustrated by Mabel Lucy Attwell. Probably made in the 1930's. The words on it are:~

FAIRIES FAIRIES EVERYWHERE
DANCING IN THE AIR
FLYING HERE AND FLYING THERE
YET -- I CAN'T CATCH ONE.

Mabel Lucy Atwell was an illustator known for her cute, nostalgic drawings of children, based on her daughter, Peggy. In 1926 Shelley Potteries commissioned her to produce designs for children’s china ware. Attwell’s designs portrayed scenes involving children, animals and small green elves in green suits - these were called ‘Boo Boos’ and used on cups, mugs, bowls etc. She also wrote books and I remember reading them when I was little.
