Gentle Sunday

I think this is probably one of the most memorable views of Madeira.

The Coastal path was redeveloped a few years ago and it is a delightful walk to take from the Lido area to the headland overlooking Cabo Girao (the second highest sheer cliff face in the world).

After a glorious lunch at the Doca do Cavacas ( which I have blipped embarrassingly often) we strolled a little on the way home.

My friend was a little startled by her landing into the airport. It was wet and rather windy and the pilot came in and then went up again for another attempt. Meanwhile, I was on the highest balcony of the hotel watching the Fred Olsen cruise ship the Braemar making a pig's ear of the approach to the harbour. Two startled wind surfers scuttled rapidly out of his unusual approach as the pilot raced to sort it out.

A touch more rain and then the weather settled to a perfect (and hot) Madeira afternoon.
