Mono Blossom

With all the mild weather, the cherry-plum blossom is appearing in hedges and shrubberies all round Peterbrorough. It was widely planted by the Peterborough Development Corporation, and is the first blossom to appear in spring, a couple of weeks or so before the blackthorn. I've never produced a black-and-white version before, but this was done for Paladian's MonoMonday challenge.

The floodwater has subsided now and it's possible to walk along the river again. The sun was shining first thing, and in sheltered spots it felt almost hot. The kingfishers have clearly noticed that spring is in the air, and for a while a pair were calling to each other vigorously, though only the occasional flash of blue was visible among the tangled willows.
