A time for everything

Spring has sprung!

Thursday
We were only away in Lanzarote for just over a week, but while we were gone, Spring had sprung - the weeping willows are greening up, daffodils are out, as is the cherry blossom, and I even saw a magnolia in bloom as I was walking through Chartrettes this afternoon. The fruit growers apparently are very concerned as it is so very early, and they are understandably concerned about the danger of late frosts. This has been the second mildest winter in France since 1900 - we've had no snow whatsoever in the Paris area, and only a handful of frosts. It has also been one of the wettest, especially in Brittany in the extreme north-east. However, too early or not, it was a beautiful afternoon for a walk along the river between Fontaine-le-Port and Chartrettes.
