Thawing and freezing...

is the cycle that we are in for spring. Small areas on ponds and lakes are opening up and then are overnight getting this lovely layer of thin, textural ice forming. This is a shot from a wonderful little pond that is home to turtles, geese, several varieties of ducks and the odd snake. In summer it is a beautiful shade of green but for now it still holds onto the blue tones.
