Black Swan

A change of venue for our daily coffee. This morning we took our coffee down to the carpark on Portsmouth Drive at the top of the harbour basin. A bit of a wind blowing so expected to see a few para-surfers out and we were not disappointed.
A few moments after we arrived this black swan flew in. Do not see these birds very often so close to the city. Commonly found in wetlands, estuaries and small lakes. They were introduced to NZ from Australia between 1864 and 1868 as well as finding their own way here.
In the back ground you will see black-backed gulls feeding on crustaceans hiding in the sea weed left exposed by the low tide.
