Points of beauty: unlit

The spring blossom is well and truly in full bloom in the garden, though at risk of early destruction by these wild winds.

Brought this spray of flowers indoors to play around with macro lens and flash gels...only to discover my Speedlight SB-600 is kaput! Not happy :( Battery cover is loose, so won't hold the batteries in place - which means it won't "talk" to my camera at all. Ideas for a solution welcome!
