National Museum of Iceland

We spent most of today in the National Museum of Iceland - and I am now prepared for the exam ;-)

Amongst the interesting things that I learnt today are that Icelandic volcanic activity between 1783 and 1784 known as "the haze" contributed to conditions that led to the French revolution, knitting didn't come to Iceland until the sixteenth century, Irish monks got here first, and much of the Icelandic population has British ancestry.

My blip is of some tapestry from the 1800s.
