Hiding

This little one has been hiding itself in the shrubs in our front garden for quite a while. It’s a Song Thrush and I think it has to be a young one, judging from its beak, pale colouring, fluffiness and general demeanour. If so, it is very early, but then I read that Song Thrushes do nest early and often have three broods in the season.

Song Thrushes are another bird in severe decline; there are only half the number that there used to be and they are on the RSPB Red List. The reason it is thought being mainly to do with loss of hedgerows that provide food and shelter.

A beautiful day. Lots of walkers going past the house. Awaiting daughter and son-in-law driving up from London – I don’t think they are the only ones on the road today!
