Traditional Easter weekend

We woke to a beautiful day (not forecast, but not complaining) perfect for watching the Thaxted Morris Men dancing. They perform in the road at a junction in the village, not easy when the traffic is nonstop!! I’ve deliberately included the cars in this blip to give the bigger picture. Hats off the Morris Men who controlled and directed the traffic, they did a great job. Especially when "clever" drivers like this one park on the wrong side of the road, on double yellow lines and proceed to unload, causing difficulties!!

This little fella decided that he had had enough of the pub. He shot out of the front door and across the road in front of one of the cars. A collective sharp intake of breath from the watching crowd, quick breaking by the driver and he was quickly grabbed by one of the Morris Men. A rather relieved owner retrieved him.

Later we spent a couple of hours in the garden clearing up and were just about finished when we heard a bang! This poor little Siskin had hit a window and had fallen on to the path. We put him somewhere safe for a little while to see if he would recover, but unfortunately not. He looked as though he had broken his neck. So sad :0
