April 23rd 2009 - Party Voqui Style

Todays conservation had us doing something slightly different – we were digging holes for tomato plants. It was nice doing a task which made me feel like we were doing something to directly help the farm instead of just clearing something which will just grow back in a few weeks. We all seemed a little lethargic at the beginning of the day though, and the first working rain of the conservation didn’t help, but a bit of food (especially the watermelon) helped perk us up and we got on with digging as many holes as we could! At the end of the day the farmer rewarded with more cucumbers, tomatoes and papayas then we could carry.

Back at the flat I had a quick shower and lunch so that we could watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, they needed to be quick as its such a long film! Christine and I went to fetch water afterwards and bumped into John and Emily from Voqui Crew when we learned it was Alice’s last night and so there was going to be a Pyjama Party later, which as you can see by the blip we ended up going to. At the flat it was suggested that I wear suggested I wear one of Mia’s dresses and I don’t usually back out of a challenge like that.

I donned the dress and wandered over with Rachel and Chloe to a BBQ to pick up some Danes, but they couldn’t be bothered with coming in the end, so we headed off through the streets to the bars. There was a political party rally going on but they only wolf whistled at us which was nice that the locals took the random English guy walking their streets in a dress in good spirits. When we got to Voqui’s Christine and Mia were slightly surprised I came out in it though!

The Voqui lot of John, Emily, Alice, Nick, Owen, Richard and Paula soon turned up and we played a bit of pool and some Ring of Fire. I hadn’t planned on getting drunk but by the end of the first game of Ring of Fire out of two I was already fairly drunk and so it turned into another long, but really fun, night.
