Oli of Alaw

Today's the day ...................... to jig at the gig

Went to a brilliant gig tonight in the Heads Nook Village Hall, near Brampton. It featured a trio of musicians - Dylan Fowler (Guitar), Jamie Smith (Accordion) and Oliver Wilson-Dickson (Fiddle) - who go by the name of Alaw.

‘Alaw’ is Welsh for melody, and it is a love of melody that is at the heart of the music of this group - in particular the old tunes of Wales - but there are plenty of other nationalities that find their way in too.

They were all consummate professionals in their own right - but together they produced a sound that was very special. You can hear a bit of their music
