Community Boot Sale

Boot sale. Yard sale. Garage sale. Rummage sale. Jumble sale. Whatever you call it, everybody does it sooner or later. We haven't done one of these in two or three years. Sometimes, neighbourhoods or the town or a charity will organize a community event where a bunch of folks pay a fee ($10-20, typically) - in this case, $10 - for a place in the parking lot of the York Region Offices (the nifty structure in the background) and you sell whatever you have for whatever you can get. We sold about $80 worth so we made $70. Not bad for four hours. The weather could not have been better: 22C, full sun, very slight breeze. Attendance was good and steady. Overall, it was worth it to clear some stuff out of the house. What didn't sell (and we didn't want to save for next time) we donated to one of the local charity retailers. Linda is in the lower left corner.

Once home, we opened the door, let the cats out, and at on the swing with an ice cold beer and the baseball game on the radio. So far: The Toronto Blue Jays are leading the visiting Kansas City Royals 7-0 after just one inning! GO JAYS GO! I'll be at the game tomorrow with my brother Ron and my buddy Gord.
