In Memoriam Catharine M-J

We went to a memorial concert for a friend we knew through Friends of the Earth. We also had a love of music in common. We were once invited by Catharine and her husband Simon to Pigotts Music Camp near High Wycombe. I remember arriving and being invited to their tent for a glass of champagne.

At the concert one of Catharine's grandchildren read a poem by Joyce Grenfell which ends:

"Weep if you must, Parting is hell,
But life goes on, so sing as well."

As we walked up through our garden when we got home, this little robin was singing away. As if he knew. And perhaps he did.
